For pumpkin math centers this year, we will have five centers. I will have five parents volunteers (one at each center). I have included direction sheets for parent volunteers as well as recording sheets for those centers that require one. These centers were designed for Kindergarten, but could easily be adapted for first or second graders.
1. Pumpkin Number Recognition
- Students play Number Recognition Memory. Using orange cardstock, create 20 cards. On one card write a numeral such as 3, on another card place 3 Halloween stickers. Do the same for numbers 1-10 or numbers 11-20, depending on what your class is working on.

2. Pumpkin Height and Circumference
- Students estimate the height of their pumpkin in cubes and circumference of their pumpkin. Then they measure to see how close they are!

3. Pumpkin- float or sink?
- Students guess if their pumpkin will float or sink and then test it.

4. Pumpkin Weight
- Students estimate how many pattern blocks will be the same weight as their pumpkin. Then they measure using the balance scale.

5. Pumpkin Pattern Crowns
- At this center, students will need a sentence strip and some Halloween Foam Stickers. Each student will create a pattern such as Pumpkin, Ghost, Pumpkin, Ghost and stick it to the sentence strip. When the child finishes, an adult can staple the sentence strip into a fun Halloween crown.
